| The Cross River Youth Chorale Sheri Bauer-Mayorga, director "If you cannot teach me to fly, teach me to sing" - J.M. Barrie Chorale History In the Fall of 2005, seven curious and dedicated singers began meeting on Thursday afternoons at the Hudson Opera House in Hudson, New York. Director, Sheri Bauer-Mayorga, led the enthusiastic group into the wonderful wilds of sight singing, ear training, and part singing. By Fall of 2008, the group had grown to 33 voices meeting regularly at HOH and performing two concerts every year. The ensemble was initially named "The Columbia County Children's Vocal Ensemble," and in Spring 2010 became "The Cross River Youth Chorale" to acknowledge the children who travel the Rip Van Winkle bridge to attend rehearsals at HOH! Cantilenas, Overtures & a Saturday Ensemble The chorus is comprised of two levels: an intermediate treble performing chorus called "The Cantilenas" for ages 10-18, and a beginner's chorus, "The Overtures," for ages 8 and up. The chorus rehearses weekly at the Hudson Opera House from September - June. |

Cross River Youth Chorale New Year Celebration & Community Sing POSTER Saturday January 14, 2012 11am-12pm at The Hudson Opera House Suggested donation $7 Join us on Saturday for a morning of singing. The youth chorale will share their semester's work and children from the ensemble will teach the audience some of the rounds and songs from the semester. Guest accompanist, Lincoln Mayorga, will back up our singing! |
Choruses, Auditions, Registration Registration for the Spring Semester will open at the Community Sing at the Hudson Opera House on 1/14/12. Come and sing with us and speak with the director afterwards. Registration closes on 2/1/12. The first Spring semester rehearsal is Thursday 2/2/12. All Interested singers should call the director directly to find out which group is "good fit." Experienced singers are encouraged to schedule an audition for participation in the Cantilenas.
