Practice Do you have to practice between lessons? Yes! There is no other way to learn a language or become familiar with an art. The goal of this teaching is to introduce the student to the language of music, work with the elements of music, and provide a foundation that will assist the student in whatever music making he or she is interested in. To understand the elements of music, to work with them, imagine, and create with them takes familiarity that only comes with practice and review. Practice is essential and mandatory and the instructor assumes that the student is taking lessons for the love of learning and has the desire to create. Materials Students will need to purchase a method book (TBD by teacher). Handouts will be given throughout the semester and student will need to bring a 3-ring binder to class. Each student should also have access to a piano (or keyboard) at home and a CD player. Make-Up Lessons Make-up lessons will be scheduled if students give 24 hours notice. Without 24 hours notice it is expected that the lesson will be paid for. |
