OVERTURES "The Overtures" is a singing group for children ages 8-12 who are new to singing rounds, songs in parts, and reading music notation. No audition is required (but please call the director, Sheri Bauer-Mayorga, to discuss your child's interests and to gather more details. See contactinformation below). Rehearsals are held from September to June at the Hudson Opera House on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 PM. We will work on seasonal songs with emphasis on vocal production, choral blend, acapella singing, round singing, part-singing, solfege, and inner hearing. Students will have the opportunity to expand listening, staff reading, and memorization skills. The class is designed for community, sharing, learning, and fun! Who is the class for?:children ages 8-12. Where is the class?: At The Hudson Opera House in Hudson, NY What is the cost?: $100- first child, $80-second child, $65-third child Tuition covers the cost of classes, music, and practice CD. Young singers with siblings in the Cantilenas pay the 2nd and 3rd child fee. What times and dates will the class meet?: Thursdays 3:30-4:30PM Fall/Winter 2012 Calendar September 15, 22, 29 October 6, 13, 20, 27 November 3, 10, 17 December 1, 8, 15 January 5, 12 January 14th Community Sing and Celebration 11am-12pm at the Hudson Opera House Spring 2012 Calendar February 2, 9, 16 March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 April 5, 19, 26 May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 End of year performance either June 1 or June 2 Official registrations and tuition payment are processed through The Hudson Opera House after a conversation with the director about your child's musical interests. Registration and Contact Info./Health Forms are available online as a download or can be completed at the Hudson Opera House. Contact Sheri if you need the forms to be sent as an e-mail attachment or via Snail Mail. As detailed on the Registration Form, payments can be made over the phone by credit card, through the mail or in person by cash/check, or at the HOH website through PAYPAL.
